Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Shimga ("Shimga", "the Service", "we", "us"), accessible at https://shimga.app and its subdomains. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Shimga does
Shimga is a browser-based studio for creating audio-reactive music videos, sound-wave art, and reusable visualizer templates. The studio renders and exports inside your web browser. Some optional features (saving templates across devices, publishing public templates, importing community templates, sending welcome emails) use third-party cloud services described in our Privacy Policy.
2. Accounts & anonymous sessions
You can use Shimga without signing up. We offer two modes:
- Anonymous session. When you open Shimga without
signing in, we mint a high-entropy URL token
(
?sessionId=session_โฆ). Your in-progress work is auto-saved to that session and kept for up to 24 hours of inactivity. Returning to the same URL within that window restores your draft. After 24 hours of no activity, the draft and any associated cloud media are permanently deleted by an automated cleanup job. Saving long-term requires an account. - Signed-in account. Created with Google or email + password. Sign-in unlocks saving templates (public or private), publishing to the community, and cross-device project sync.
You are responsible for the security of your sign-in credentials and for activity under your account. Sharing your anonymous-session URL shares access to that draft โ treat the URL as a credential.
3. Your content
"Your content" means any audio, image, video, text, template configuration, layer settings, layout, or other material you upload to or create on Shimga. You retain all ownership rights in your content.
4. License you grant Shimga
To run the Service, you grant Shimga a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transcode (e.g. for thumbnails), cache, and display your content as needed to provide the Service to you. This license ends when you delete the content, except for backup retention necessary to honor deletion requests.
5. Public templates & community
When you mark a template Public, you grant other Shimga users a worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, sublicensable license to view, copy, remix, and re-publish the template and every media file it carries (images, videos, audio). Public templates appear in the community gallery and on shareable links.
Do not mark a template Public if you don't have the full rights to grant this license โ including license to every photo, video clip, music file, sound effect, or font embedded in it. Read more: when to publish publicly and how Shimga handles your audio.
Private templates remain visible only to you and to Shimga staff reviewing for policy violations (see ยง7).
6. Upload limits & retention
To keep the Service fast and affordable, the following limits apply:
- Per-file cloud upload cap: 250 MB. Files larger than this stay on your device โ the studio renders them locally but doesn't push them to the cloud. They will not appear on another device or in shared templates.
- Anonymous-session retention: 24 hours of inactivity, then permanent deletion of the session draft and any media uploaded inside it.
- Saved-template media: retained as long as the template exists. When you delete a template, we attempt best-effort removal of the media within 48 hours.
- Exports: generated client-side and downloaded directly to your device. We do not store your exported video file.
These limits may change. We will update this section before tightening them in a way that affects existing accounts.
7. Prohibited use
You may not use Shimga to upload, host, publish, or share content that:
- You do not have the right to upload, including copyrighted music, images, or video used without a license. See choosing licensed audio.
- Sexually exploits minors, promotes self-harm, incites violence, promotes terrorism, harasses individuals, or violates applicable law.
- Contains malicious code, deceptive links, or attempts to phish Shimga users.
- Misrepresents another person's identity, impersonates Shimga or any other company, or falsely claims affiliation.
You also may not:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, mirror, or automate the Service in ways that interfere with normal use.
- Bypass the upload size cap, sweep-and-restore protections, or other technical limits.
- Use Shimga to send unsolicited messages or commercial bulk promotions.
We may remove content, suspend or terminate accounts, and block access for any violation of these rules. We may also delete content flagged as violating without prior notice when removal is legally required or the violation is severe.
8. Copyright & DMCA
If you believe content on Shimga infringes your copyright, send a notice including (a) your contact info, (b) the URL of the infringing content, (c) a description of the original work, (d) a good-faith statement that the use is unauthorized, and (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that you are the rights holder or their authorized agent. Send the notice via the contact form linked from the homepage. We will respond within a reasonable time.
9. Service availability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that exports will succeed, that cloud uploads will always complete, that the Service will be free of bugs, or that it will remain available at no cost.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shimga, its operators, contributors, and providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages โ including loss of templates, lost exports, audio that fails to render, or business interruption โ arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability is capped at $20 USD or the amount you have paid Shimga in the 12 months preceding the claim, whichever is greater. Your sole remedy is to stop using the Service.
11. Account & data deletion
You can delete any saved template you own from the Templates page using the red Delete button on each card. Deletion removes the template document from Firestore and triggers best-effort removal of the associated media from object storage.
To delete your entire account (all templates, drafts, telemetry, and Brevo mailing-list records), contact us via the homepage form with the email associated with your account. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The "Effective" date and version number at the top reflect the most recent change. Material changes (changes that reduce your rights or increase your obligations) will be announced in-app for at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, except where prohibited by mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction.
