Template Publishing Terms
These Template Publishing Terms ("Publishing Terms") apply when you publish a
public template on Shimga: a template you submit for the community
gallery and its own page at shimga.app/template/…. They add to our
Terms of Service; where the two differ about a public template,
these Publishing Terms apply. Private templates are not affected.
You must tick "I agree to the Template Publishing Terms" before you can submit a public template. We record the version you agreed to and when.
Contents
1. What you publish
A public template is everything you submit with it: the scene (layers and settings), the media it uses (images, videos), the thumbnail, the optional preview clip, the optional shared audio, and the page details (title, description, tags, genre, music credits and your profile links).
2. Your rights warranty
By submitting, you confirm that:
- you created the template, or you have every permission needed to publish it;
- you own, or are licensed to share in this way, every image, video, font, sound and piece of music in it, including any audio you choose to upload;
- publishing it does not break any law, contract or anyone else's rights (copyright, trademark, privacy, personality or publicity rights);
- the music credits and links you give are accurate to the best of your knowledge.
Crediting an artist is not the same as having permission. If you don't have the rights to a track, don't upload it: publish the template without audio and let people add their own music.
3. Licence to Shimga
You keep ownership of your content. You grant Shimga a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, for as long as the template is published and for a reasonable time after removal to clear caches and backups, to:
- host and store the template and its media, including copies made to serve it quickly (thumbnails, re-encoded preview clips);
- display and stream it inside Shimga: on its template page, in the community gallery, in the studio and in the template picker;
- promote Shimga with it using its title, thumbnail, preview clip and your display name, for example on the Shimga website, in Shimga's social posts or newsletters, with credit to you;
- make the technical changes needed to do the above (resizing, re-encoding, adding a small "shimga.app" mark to thumbnails).
Shimga does not sell your template or your audio, and does not license your shared audio to anyone outside Shimga.
4. What other users may do
Anyone can open a published template in the studio, change it, and save their own copy ("remix"); the original stays as you published it. People who remix a template may use its visuals in videos they export. As set out in §5 of the Terms of Service, the template's scene and visual media are shared with the community for that purpose.
5. Shared audio
Uploading the audio is optional. If you do:
- it is stored privately and is never offered as a public file or a download link. It is streamed through short-lived links only to pages on shimga.app, so people can hear the template in the studio and on its page;
- it plays inside Shimga only. Please understand the technical limit: anything a browser can play can, with effort, be recorded. We make copying harder; we cannot make it impossible;
- someone who remixes the template hears your audio in the studio. Whether they may publish a video that contains it depends on the rights to that music, which are theirs to clear: Shimga does not grant them any right to the audio;
- you can't swap the shared audio after submitting. To change it, request deletion and publish again.
6. Credits and links
Music credits (artist or channel, track, links to SoundCloud, YouTube, Spotify,
Instagram or a website) and your profile links are shown on the template page with
nofollow links. Only add links you are entitled to share. We may remove a
link that is broken, misleading, unsafe or spam.
7. Content rules
A public template must not contain or link to: content you don't have the rights to; sexual content, graphic violence or hate; harassment or anyone's personal data; malware, scams or misleading claims; impersonation of a person, artist or brand; or advertising that isn't related to the template. Titles and descriptions must describe the template honestly. Everything in the acceptable use rules applies too.
8. Review, edits and approval
- Every public template is reviewed before it goes live. We may approve or reject it, and we say why when we reject one. Approval is not a confirmation that your content is licensed: that remains your warranty (§2).
- After approval, you can edit the page details (title, description, tags, credits, links). Text edits go live straight away and are re-checked by our team. A new thumbnail or preview clip replaces the current one only after we approve it.
- We may correct page details (for example a broken link, a wrong credit or an unclear title) and choose the page's web address (slug).
9. Your responsibility
You are responsible for what you publish. If a claim is made against Shimga because of content you published in breach of these Publishing Terms (for example a copyright claim about music you uploaded without permission), you agree to cooperate with us and, to the extent the law allows, to cover the reasonable costs that claim causes Shimga.
10. Copyright complaints
Rights holders can report a template under our Copyright & Takedown Policy (DMCA-style notices and counter-notices). When we receive a valid notice we may take the template, its page or its audio down straight away, and tell you. Repeated valid complaints can lead to losing the ability to publish, or to account suspension.
11. Removal by Shimga
We may unpublish or delete a public template at any time if it breaks these Publishing Terms or the Terms of Service, if we receive a valid legal complaint, or if keeping it would harm users or Shimga. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you why.
12. Deletion requests
Once a template is published (pending review or live) you can't delete it yourself, because other people may be using it. Use Request deletion on the template in My Projects and tell us why. We aim to handle requests within 7 days. Deleting removes the template, its page, its thumbnail, preview and shared audio. Copies other users already saved as their own remixes are theirs and are not deleted, except where we must remove content for legal reasons.
13. Creator rewards
From time to time our team may reward an outstanding template with free Shimga Pro, currently one month of Pro Monthly, added to the publishing account. Rewards are at our sole discretion: publishing doesn't entitle anyone to one, there is no fixed number of rewards and no application process. A reward:
- is given at most once per template, to the account that published it;
- starts when granted (or extends a reward month you already have) and simply ends after the period. It doesn't renew and needs no payment details;
- has no cash value and can't be transferred or exchanged;
- may be withdrawn if the template is later removed for breaking these Publishing Terms, or if the account is suspended.
Saving and publishing templates that use Pro features is allowed on every account; Pro is only needed to export them.
14. Changes
We may update these Publishing Terms. Changes apply to templates submitted after the update; for templates already published we'll give notice of material changes, and you can request deletion if you don't agree. The version you agreed to is stored with each template.
