Copyright & Takedown Policy
Shimga lets people upload music, images and video into templates and publish some of those templates for others to view and remix. We respect the rights of creators and expect our users to do the same. This page explains how to report content that infringes your copyright and what happens next. It is part of our Terms of Service.
Contents
1. What this covers
This policy covers media that users store on Shimga, mainly the audio, images and video inside public templates in the community gallery and on shared template links. Videos you export are made in your browser and saved to your own device; we do not host them, so if one is posted elsewhere (for example on YouTube), report it to that platform.
Everyone who uploads to Shimga must own the content or have permission to use it. See Acceptable use and content rights in our Terms.
2. How to report infringement
Email hello@shimga.app with the subject "Copyright notice" and include:
- Your name, postal address, phone number and email address.
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed (for example the song title and artist, or a link to the original image).
- The Shimga link(s) where the material appears, such as the template
URL (
https://shimga.app/studio?project=…), so we can find it. - A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine).
Notices missing this information may take longer to handle, or we may ask you for the missing details.
3. What we do with a report
- We review each complete notice and, where it is valid, remove or disable access to the reported material, or make the template private.
- We let the user who uploaded the material know that it was removed and pass on the notice (we may remove your personal contact details if you ask, unless the law requires otherwise).
- We may also remove public templates on our own initiative if we believe they infringe someone's rights or break our Terms.
4. Counter-notices
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, or that you have the right to use it, you can send a counter-notice to hello@shimga.app with:
- Your name, postal address, phone number and email address.
- The template or material that was removed and where it appeared.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed because of a mistake or misidentification.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which Shimga may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We will forward the counter-notice to the person who reported the content. If they do not tell us within 10–14 business days that they have started legal action, we may restore the material.
5. Repeat infringers
We will suspend or close the accounts of users who repeatedly upload infringing content. Paid plans on an account closed for this reason are not refunded beyond what our Refund policy allows.
6. False reports
Please only send a notice or counter-notice if you are sure of your claim. Knowingly false notices can make the sender legally liable for damages. If you are not sure whether something infringes, consider getting legal advice first.
7. Contact
Send copyright notices, counter-notices and questions about this policy to hello@shimga.app.
